Veena Stores – A Bangalore Institution

Veena Stores is a Bangalore institution. Malleswaram is home to some of the best tiffin joints in Bangalore. Janata Hotel, Central Tiffin Room and Raghavendra Stores. Plenty of good food around.

Veena Stores is famous for its idli. Soft fluffy and delicious. The coconut chutney served along with the idli is special. It has a bit of mint added. Veena Stores also serves Khara Bhath and Kesari Bhath. Together the combination of these two dishes is called Chow-Chow Bhath, in Bangalore. Established in 1977, Veena Stores has been very consistent with their product. I’ve been going there for years and never a bad or compromised experience. It’s always busy and one has to wait in line for the food. In the past few years, another line of Swiggy and Zomato delivery people has been added. Now there’s one line for customers and another line for delivery. And both lines are fairly long.

A typical tiffin place, it opens for breakfast at 7am and evening hours at 4pm. It closes from 1130am to 4pm Monday to Saturday and the outlet is shut on Sundays.
